ABOUT THE COUNCIL

WHO WE ARE

THE ITALIAN BUSINESS COUNCIL DUBAI & NORTHERN EMIRATES (IBCD) IS A NON-PROFIT PRIVATE ASSOCIATION COMPRISING OF COMPANIES AND BUSINESSMEN WITH ACTIVE BUSINESS RELATIONS IN ITALY AND THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES.

The IBCD is a business, cultural and social reference point of Italian style for the entire business community in the UAE

The IBCD is part of the 42 Business Councils established by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry to boost economic co-operation and enhance commerce between the business communities of Dubai, as well as the bilateral trade relations between countries.

The IBCD organizes monthly seminars, business networking events, conferences, luncheons and gala dinners, directly or in conjunction with local institutions and other Business Councils. 

IBCD acts as a pivotal hub for all local companies already in contact with the Italian or Italian related business world and for all those willing to trade with it.

STRUCTURE OF THE COUNCIL

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Board of Directors is responsible for managing all the activities of the IBCD, planning future policy, programmes, seminars, conferences, speakers, events and promotion of other matters of interest to the Business Council. The Board of Directors is available as first point of contact for the members and anyone wishing to be in contact with the IBCD, whether this is to join as a member or discuss issues or projects of common interest. The board members shall provide advice and assistance in the management of committee functions, including the development of policies, determination of priorities and establishment of IBCD goals and objectives.

THE CHAIRMAN

The Chairman is the member of the Board of Directors responsible for chairing all Board of Directors meetings and general assemblies, and to drive the Board of Directors to deliver the goals and objectives of the IBCD. The Chairman shall exercise general supervision over the affairs of the IBCD and shall represent the IBCD in external relations, although such representation may be delegated to other members of the Board of Directors as he/she considers appropriate. The Chariman shall preside over the IBCD finances and shall set standards and expectations for leadership and deliverables.

THE VICE-CHAIRMAN

The Vice Chairman is the member of the Board of Directors designated to provide support to the Chairman to ensure that agreed deliverables and targets are met by the Board of Directors at an operational level. The Vice Chairman shall chair Board of Directors meetings and general assemblies in case of the Chairman’s absence and shall represent IBCD in external relations in case of Chairman’s absence, unless another Board member is delegated by the Chairman to do so. In case the Chairman be vacant, Vice Chairman shall act as the Chairman.

THE SECRETARY GENERAL

The Secretary General acts as secretary for and at all meetings of the Board of Directors and all General Assemblies. He or she shall prepare and distribute the agenda and other materials and keep the minutes of all meetings of which he or she is Secretary. Minutes of Board meetings and Assemblies will be written in English and signed by both the President and the Secretary General for IBCD record.

THE TREASURER

The Treasurer is the member of the Board of Directors responsible for the financial affairs of the IBCD, ensuring that the books of account are maintained to a professional standard and that sufficient funds are maintained to operate the IBCD. The Treasurer shall ensure, in close cooperation with the Chairman, that an appropriate financial policy framework is in place to guide IBCD’s decision making and shall perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Chairman in relation with financial management.
